We are learning to describe criteria for a good digital game.
Empathy at the centre of design. watch this clip:
Skim through this site for ideas on what makes a good game.
Think about your process of designing the sunscreeen emoji. What makes a good emoji? Can you use these ideas for digital game design?
Leave a comment here on this blog about anything you would consider a good digital game should have.
That really tells me that what empathy means
I think that digital game should have lot’s of color.
I think a good digital game should have a good purpose on what you need to do, also that you can have a good selection on what you can do.
A good digital game to me is a simple game like stack or flappy dunk. and they all need a purpose.
i think a good game is where you get challenged or it is a bit of a brain teaser
A good game is fun, action-packed and free.
a good game is a game that includes fun activities flashbacks and fighting games, i thinkk the best game is teken 34567 and mortal combat
a good game is a game that makes your mind work and action packet and it is also good if the game is free just like fortnite
a good game in my opinion has a objective and sometimes a little gory or violent
I’m not sure about the gory or violent myself, but I do like a gamae with opposites: goodies/baddies, good/evil, foolish/wise.
i think a good game should be satisfying to the user there should not be violenc and you should learn some stuff but still make it fun
Nice tips Bianca. I think it should definitely be fun!
I think a good game is a game that wants you to keep playing.
I agree! Monument Valley has me hooked. Anything else?
I think a good game is a game that requires thought and is satisfying to the user.
Nice summary, David.
I think that a good game has good people and bad people in it. And it should also have set tasks for you to do that are fun. There also shouldn’t be too much violence, and it shouldn’t be too silly.
I really like your thinking that a game should not be too silly.
The blog really helped us understand the setting of a game and how to start the idea.
Great feedback! Let me know if you have any ideas for a game that we could build together.
I think that in a good game, you have a problem that you are trying to solve, something you want or an objective, and something blocking you from the objective, for example an opposition.
Good thought about having an opposition, Cameron. I think there always has to be opposite concepts in a good game, especially a narrative-based game.
I think a good game is based on what you want it to be like if you’r doing a HASS activity
Interesting idea, Kevin. I wonder if HASS games can be designed to give the player more choice in how the characters act or how the game unfolds?
i think a good digital game is a game that pulls you in so you want to go back to it
Nice idea Marshall. I think a game with a great background story or a unusual setting always gets me interested.
I think a good game needs thought and takes time to complete different levels
Yes, Ashton, I agree about having different levels. I really like that feeling of a ‘level up’ when I play a game.
A good game needs to be entertaining, addictive or makes you want to play more. It might have a morrle as well but it does not need to. Also if it is good vs evil it is normal fun.
Yes, I agree about a game that makes you want to play it more. I think that I might need an in-built timer so that I don’t forget to cook the dinner or do my exercise! I also agree about the good vs evil, but I would describe this as having opposites as elements in a good game.
I think that a good game should have a purpose , and a story line in certain ones depending on what sort of game you want to create. I also think that you should think about what sort of player you are trying to attract and what they would be interested in ( e.g younger children that are 4 or 5 and are male would enjoy cars and monsters.
Great comments Olivia. I wonder how a game could be designed to personalise according to a young learner’s interests?
