There are 10 sleeps until my birthday. I used the Calender and counted from today and stoped at the 19th of March.
Goggles and Spike used adding to work it out
Great tip to count the spaces on the calendar, Jaxen. Spike made a mistake in his counting. Do you know what he did wrong?
cheers

We used a strategy . I called it count the tens and ones in your number. It is only 332 days to my next birthday.
This sounds interesting, Makayla. You counted a lot of days. How did your ‘tens and ones’ strategy help you with this large number?
It helped me with my counting and adding numbers together. It helped me by adding the ones then the tens.
Goggle and Spike used the same strategy as I did, cool. The strategy was that we added the numbers of days in each month together
Yes Makayla, that’s right. Luckily Goggles didn’t have any large numbers to add together. Do you think Goggles should have used your ‘tens and ones’ strategy?
cheers
Ms Lockyer
YES they should!!!!!!!!!!!! Because it is easier to count.
Thanks for the tip. Can you explain how Goggles and Spike could use your ‘tens and ones’ strategy? Should they use a calculator or write it down on paper? What would they write?
I have 332 sleeps until my next birthday. I used a calendar and a calculator to work it out by adding the days of each month until next February.
Goggles and Spike also used addition to count the number of sleeps until Goggles’ birthday.
That sounds about right, Rianna. Using the calculator was useful. Which buttons did you press? If Goggles and Spike used the calculator, can you work out which buttons they might have pressed?
They typed the + 31and 30.
My birthday is the 1st February . I know there is 365 days between each birthday. My birthday was 38 days ago (28 days in February and adding 10 more days to today’s date of 11th March). So I used a calculator to take 38 days from 365 days giving me my answer of 327 sleeps until my next birthday.
Wow Amelia – I am impressed with your thinking! I really love how you used a subtraction strategy – much easier.
cheers
Ms Lockyer
It is 320 sleeps until my birthday.
I figured it out by counting how many days in each month. Then we counted how many months till my birthday. Then we had 30 lots of ten. Then we counted how many days there were left over. Then we put them in 100s and 10s and 1s. Then we added them up until 320.
Ecellent work Asha. Can you think of any other ways to work it out?
I liked that goggles got the wrong number of days and spike the right answer by adding.
My dad said that if it was a lot of months to your birthday you would need a calculator.
Yes I agree, Dylan. Most adults would need to use a calculator to keep track of all the numbers. Did the Aliens get the number of days in the month right?
Cheers
Ms Lockyer
There are 312 days until my birthday. I wrote down the number of days in each month until the 13 of January. Then I added 6 days until my birthday. I used a calculator to add all the numbers.
That was a good way to do it Dylan. Was there any other way to do it?
Cheers

Hi Ms Lockyer, I just had my birthday in February so I counted from today on the calendar until the 9th of Feb and I had to count all the way to 338 sleeps until my next birthday! Goggles and Spike had to use adding up to work out the birthday.
I liked this movie it was very funny.
Thanks Chelsea, I’m glad you liked the movie. You did a great just b of counting. How did you keep track of all the numbers?
Hi Ms Lockyer, I used the calendar and then counted each multiple of 100. It took me ages! To make it quicker I counted how many 100’s i got to (3) then added the final days 38 to come up with my answer.
Today is the 14 of March. My birthday was the 5th of March so there have been 9 sleeps since my birthday. There normally are 365 sleeps in a year. So there are 365 – 9 = 356 sleeps until my next birthday. But next year is a leap year so February gets an extra day so there becomes 366 days in the year. So there are 357 days until my next birthday. And Goggles and Spike needed to now how many days in a month.
Spot on Ethan! You did a great job on this one. Can you re-watch the video and check if the Aliens knew about leap years? I am also not sure if they got the number of days in the months correct.
Cheers
Ms Lockyer
There are 339 days until my birthday. I used a calendar and a calculator to add up each month.
Googles and Spike also used a calendar and addition in the video.
It is 69 sleeps until my birthday. I used my mum calendar and counted the days. spike forgot goggles birthday and they counted the calendar.
There are 154 days until my birthday. I counted the hole weeks and then timesed it by 7. Goggles and Spike used a calendar to work out Goggles birthday.
Goggles and Spike used addition. My birthday is in December so I used my Mum’s calendar to see how many days there were in each month from today until then. I added the number of days in each month in my head 16+30+31+30+31+31+30+31+30+6=266. I checked my answer using the calculator to add the numbers. I got the same answer with the calculator – 266.
Today is the 15 of March there are 305 more sleeps until my next birthday. Because it is still a long way until my next birthday the used were a calendar and calculator. My mum helped me to count correctly.
Because it is still a long way until my next birthday the tools I used were a calendar and a calculator. My mum helped me to count correctly.
(this is the correct sentence)

There are 13 sleeps until my birthday. I worked this out by adding the days.
My Birthday is on 18 August. Using a calculator I added up the remaining days in March, then the days in each month up to July, then added the 17 days in Aug. The answer is 154.
