This beautiful sculpture will be opened on Anzac Day this year. There will be a plaque created for the sculpture. What do you think might be written on it? Create your own words for the plaque and tell us in a comment here.
I had fun doing my Anzac homework with my mum but it was hard .
I’m glad you had fun, Emily. Did you get to design your plaque for the memorial?
cheers
Ms Lockyer
Emily, the plaque you designed is terrific. Thank you for your effort. it looks great on our classroom display.
cheers
Ms Lockyer
The sculpture tells us to remember the horses and animals who died in the war.
Did you like the sculpture Makayla? I think it is a particularly beautiful one. Are you going to design a plaque for the memorial?
Makayla, you have described the main idea well. Would you use these words on your plaque?
cheers
Ms Lockyer
mum pretended to be a person looking at the statue asking questions about it. I put the answers on the plaque.
What a fantastic way to do this Ethan. I am very excited to see what is on your plaque.
cheers
Ms Lockyer
Anzac is a very interesting history of Australia. It makes me proud to be an Australian. I would put these words on the plaque: “army to battle, charge!!! the true spirit of Australian heroes and horses”.
Wow, Josh, what an amazing idea for the plaque. Would you like to do a poster of this in class?
cheers
Ms Lockyer
Thanks horses for helping the Anzacs. That is my idea for the plaque.
History is very important because its where we come from. My choice of words for the plaque is “we will never forget.”
You have made a great connection between history and places that are special to us, Marcus – wonderful! I really like your words for the plaque too.
cheers
Ms Lockyer
Anzac day is when we celebrate our war heros. I would like to write “remembering war heroes who gave their lives to save ours”.
Good ideas there Rianna. What words would you do for the Anzac horses – the same?
cheers
Ms Lockyer
I went to an Anzac parade with my family and heard a poem about the horses that died in the war and how upset the soldiers were that couldn’t bring them home. I have made a poster with the words for the plaque “never forget all the horses that died in the war”. I think they were very special and brave.
I love your poster Chelsea and I will display it in the classroom. ‘Special and brave’ – great words for the Anzac horses.
cheers
Ms Lockyer
I enjoyed reading about the ANZAC horses. I think we should remember about the horses because they were a good help during the war. I want to write the words “Lest We Forget” on the plaque and decorate it with poppy flowers.
Thanks Hannah. I think those words would be great on the plaque. Your idea about the poppies for decoration is just fantastic.
cheers
Ms Lockyer
The sculpture reminds us to Thank the ANZAC horses for helping our soldiers in the war. We remember them.
Kanin, I love how you though about saying thank you to the horses. You are making me think that maybe all War Memorials are for the community to say thankyou. What do you think?
